Remastered GTA Trilogy: The Rollout

Introduction

There have been many rumors that Rockstar Games has been hard at work on GTA VI. In the mean time, remastered versions of GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas have been released on November 11th. This remastered release has been met with issues from the start. Many users on Twitter were noting how the graphics (especially on characters) has not improved much, and mods will need to be utilized in order to get great playing quality. Rockstar games has removed the remastered trilogy as it fixes issues including removing the controversial “Hot Coffee” code embedded in GTA: San Andreas.

Removal from Online Store

Following reports that the original Hot Coffee code, which was embedded in the original GTA: San Andreas, had been included in the remastered version as well. This controversial code cost lots of money for Rockstar when they announced a mandatory recall over this minigame content. It allowed the protagonist to engage in acts otherwise not able to be done via the game mechanics. This controversy got the game rating changed from “Mature” to “Adults Only”, limiting the target audience and receiving negative press and support from the general public.

The minigame was normally inaccessible for users, but a fan-made mod dubbed Hot Coffee enabled access of it. Lawsuits ensued for consumer fraud. In the latest released version, it has been found that the code is still in the game. Rockstar has since removed the game from their online store while they work out this issue.

Other News

Rockstar citied that they were taking out “files unintentionally included in these versions”. Rockstar hopes to have them back up for download soon. Aside from this controversy, users posting their experience online have not been saying very positive things. There has been spelling errors, characters looking warped, and some visual effects that are harsh. As the GTA Trilogy was taken offline, it brought the entire Rockstar Games Launcher and other services down with it. Since then, service to the Games Launcher and others have been restored.

Conclusion

It is likely that mods will need to be used to get the visual quality up to par with what many PC users are used to playing with today. One can hope that GTA VI will be a smoother rollout. What are your thoughts about this Rockstar release? Reach out to us on social media and let us know.
